Musician Elton John and filmmaker David Furnish have announced the birth of their second child Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.
The baby was reported born through a surrogate mother on the 11th of January at 6.40 pm in Los Angeles. The baby was born healthy weighing over 8 pounds.
Elijah is the second child of the couple Elton and David who are civil partners since 2005. Their first son Zachary Jackson Levon was born two years ago and is now the elder brother of the newborn.
In their announcement to the media, Elton and David gave a joint statement stating that “Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable. The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.â€
Baby Elijah’s arrival through surrogacy has cost the couple close to £ 20, 000. This is a pittance considering how much Elton John makes. It is estimated that John’s everyday earnings just from royalties is worth £ 70, 000. So it comes as a surprise as to why they paid only £ 20, 000 for the surrogacy process. Another fact about the baby’s birth is that 50-year-old David is now named as the mother of the baby in the birth certificate.
In his own words, the legendary musician who is now 65 years old, has been longing for a family for long. The desire to expand his family materialized only very recently and has brought him immense joy and happiness. However, he does realize the pressure the children will face for having special parents.
They will have to together face the fact that these children do not have a mummy and that is going to be a difficult question to answer. But the new parents are prepared for this ordeal that will strike them sooner or later. But for right now, it is party time for this unique family.
