  • The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin – This is a body hormone that is released in very large quantities during pregnancy. It is alternatively popularly referred to as HCG. The exact manner in which this hormone connects nausea and pregnancy has not yet been fully established. However, the hormone is regarded as a likely cause of the nausea primarily due to the fact that the nausea is at its worst when the hormones reach their highest levels.
  • Estrogen – Estrogen is another hormone that is released in large quantities in the body during the earlier stages of pregnancy. It is also in the list of possible hormones that cause nausea and vomiting during the time of pregnancy.
  • Increased sensitivity – In the early stages of pregnancy when the symptoms of morning sickness are most common, many women become very sensitive and are easily irritated by odors and other sensations, resulting in nausea.
