Causes of Infertility in Women

Infertility in women is growing by the day and there are numerous cases of this condition worldwide. Ovulatory disorders are one of the most common causes for inability of women to conceive and 30% cases of female infertility are due to ovulatory problems.  Most of the cases of these disorders are curable by medications but some cases are difficult to treat or cure.  The following are some of the main causes of infertility in women.

Causes of Infertility in Women

Hormonal Problems

Hormonal problems are one of the most common causes of infertility in women. Any disruption in the hormonal balance or function can cause the process of ovulation to be hindered and this in turn might lead to infertility in women.

Scarred Ovaries

Another reason for infertility in the case of females is scarred ovaries. Physical damage to the ovaries might lead to failed ovulation. Some reasons for physical damage to the ovaries are extensive and invasive multiple surgeries or any kind of infection.

Premature Menopause

This is a rare cause of infertility in women but might affect a few females and pose a problem in fertility or conceiving. Some women tend to go through menopause at a very early age and that might in turn create a hindrance in getting pregnant.

Follicle Problems

Unruptured Follicle Syndrome is another cause of infertility in women and occurs in those women who produce normal follicle with an egg inside of it on a monthly basis and yet the follicle fails to rupture. Due to this, the egg remains inside of the ovary and hence the proper process of ovulation might fail to occur.

Endometriosis

Another cause due to which women fail to get pregnant is endometriosis. This problem creates infertility in about 10% of the couples and in this condition, the monthly chance of getting pregnant decreases by a huge percentage. In this, there is excessive growth of the endometrium which is the lining of the uterus. Some symptoms of this cause of infertility include heavy and painful menstrual periods, rectal bleeding and urgency to urinate.

Other Factors

Many of the infertility issues in women occur due to an abnormal uterus or congenital abnormalities etc. Some women might even face problems due to the cervical mucus or due to alcohol, drugs, smoking and improper diet etc.
