Besides the bleeding during early pregnancy some other signs of the ectopic pregnancy include cramping in the lower abdomen, pain in the abdomen and low hCG levels. You are at a higher risk in case you had an infection of the fallopian tubes, had previous surgery or had another ectopic pregnancy before.
Molar pregnancy
The truth is that this is a rare cause of bleeding when being pregnant. It is sometimes referred to as a mole, and it means that abnormal tissue is growing instead of the fetus. The condition is also known as gestational trophoplastic disease or GTD.
The signs in this case, besides bleeding during early pregnancy, involve high levels of hCG, unlike in the other case, lack of heart tones of the fetus and clusters in the uterus that can be seen during an ultrasound.
Common reasons
Not only can such complications cause bleeding when being pregnant. There are some other causes as well, such as implantation bleeding. This happens 6-12 days after fertilization and it varies from one woman to the other; it could be light spotting lasting for a few hours or for a few days.
Another cause of bleeding during early pregnancy could be intercourse. This is because the cervix is sensitive and tender. If this is the case you shouldn’t have intercourse until you get checked out by a doctor to make sure that the pregnancy is alright.
