Insomnia During Pregnancy

Many women go through insomnia during pregnancy. This problem is caused by the fluctuating hormone levels along with other bothersome factors.

These include the frequent urge of urination, leg cramps, heartburn and also pre-birth anxiety.

The truth is that women sleep during pregnancy, but because of the frequent urination and all the tossing and turning, they feel like they can’t sleep at all.

The only advantage of the situation is that you will be able to nap every once in a while during the day .

What can you do about the problem?

If you are affected by insomnia while being pregnant you shouldn’t worry: the problem doesn’t harm the baby. Sometimes all you have to do is to let go of your worries and you will be able to get a good night’s sleep. It is possible that you have an emotional problem.

Your worries may prevent you from sleeping at night. In this case it may be helpful to talk to your spouse or a friend about the concerns that you have. Another solution that you have is to write down your concerns and fears.

Simple tips

It is also a good idea to take your time at dinner. You shouldn’t be in a hurry to eat. This way you can avoid being affected by heartburns during the night and so you won’t have to toss and turn. Also it may be important not to have dinner right before going to bed.

You could be affected by pregnancy insomnia if you have too much energy before going to sleep. In the evening you shouldn’t have any caffeine or chocolate. This is because they could keep you awake during the night. Instead you should opt for a light snack, such as a cup of milk or dried apricots.
