Sore Throat During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the time when women have to be really careful about their health. This is because they have a weakened immune system and there is extra demand on their body.

If you have a sore throat during pregnancy, this is risky for you and the baby. If you are thinking about taking some medication you have to make sure that it doesn’t do more harm than good.

There are many different medications that shouldn’t be taken during pregnancy. During this period it is best to think about natural treatments and home remedies.

What should you do?

You could have some tea to make your sore throat better. Add to it a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of lemon juice.

Drink the tea while it is hot, but it shouldn’t be too hot because it could irritate the throat even more. Another thing you could do is to boil some water and add a few slices of ginger to it.

Prepare a tea as you normally would and add a teaspoon of lemon juice to it. The good thing about this tea is that it can also help you with a cold. It is also a good idea to take some warm water and add some salt to it.

Then gargle with the mixture but make sure that you don’t swallow it.

Natural solutions

If you have problems with sore throat when being pregnant, there are also some herbs that you could think about, such as basil leaves. Take a kettle of water and add some crushed basil leaves to it.

Boil the mixture and then let it cool. You could gargle with the solution but you could also drink it. Cinnamon could also help with your problem. Add it to boiled water along with honey and pepper powder.
