And, fifty-five percent should arrive from carbohydrates. The foods that contain carbohydrates are bread, potatoes and other grain products.

In addition to these, it is essential to have 400mg of folic acid in your diet. Folic acid is rich in foods such as barley beans, green vegetables, orange juice, peas and rice.

Also, take iron supplements daily till your second trimester of pregnancy. Iron is rich in green vegetables, strawberries, and whole-meal bread.

Sufficient sleep is essential during pregnancy for all pregnant women. However, ask your gynecologist about the way to sleep at night. It is best to sleep on your left side to avoid back pain and for good oxygen flow to the baby inside.

Exercise is a good activity for pregnant women, as it helps prepare for childbirth. However, consult your doctor before starting any exercise. Walking, swimming, dancing and cycling are low-impact exercises with very little efforts and are comfortable and enjoyable for pregnant women.

On the other hand, it is best to avoid smoking and alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Smoking can increase your chances of having miscarriage, placenta damage, early childbirth, and underweight baby.

Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can result in physical defects and severe damages to your baby.

It is always safe for pregnant women to consult the doctor before using any medicine although if it is a common over-the-counter drug.

Listening to soothing music is good for pregnant women. So, take time and sit back, close your eyes and listen to the relaxing music for having relaxation to the body and mind.

Reading books is also a relaxation activity. So, spend some of your time for reading books. However, during pregnancy, it is good to read some lighthearted books or comedy books.

Yoga practicing is very beneficial for pregnant women during pregnancy because it makes childbirth (delivery) easy without any complications. You can relax your body and mind and reduce stress as well as nervousness.
