You heard it right. Our beloved star singer – Shakira, will soon be shaking legs with her baby. In a recent press release the ‘waka waka’ girl has announced that she is pregnant and is an expectant mother of her first child.
Shakira’s partner of 2 years, Spanish footballer Gerard Pique and Shakira, together confirmed that they are expecting their first baby some time very soon.  She is said to have quoted on her website that they are both putting all promotional activities on the back burner and will be focusing only on welcoming their bundle of joy.
Past relationships
Shakira has not had a good going with her personal relationships in the past. She and her long time boyfriend of 11 years Antonio de la Rua announced their spilt 2 years ago, citing irreconcilable differences. Soon after that she began dating Gerard.
It has been reported that la Rua is suing Shakira for the $250 million. Antonio claims that he has suffered huge financial losses by giving up his professional as a publicist and taking up event management deals for Shakira.
Commitments & public appearances
This means that Shakira will steer clear of the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Festival, but confirms that she will follow all the proceedings of the festival to be held in Las Vegas, very closely.
The Colombian Magazine, Gente has reported that Gerard and Shakira are going to be parents to a baby boy, who is expected to arrive in January next year. The magazine has added that the couple has already nicknamed the baby Ulicito.
Shakira’s pregnancy came to light first in May and subsequently she and singer Usher have signed a deal to be coaches in the US version of ‘The Voice’- a music talent show. This is the only commitment she will be keeping and has suspended all other activities for the time being.
Family reactions
Shakira’s family, represented by her half-brother Edward Mebarak has expressed their pleasure on hearing the news of the pregnancy. Apparently, he is said to have told reporters, “We’re so happy and blessed with the news of the baby. We texted each other and I’ve congratulated her.”
