Remember that bleeding doesn’t necessarily mean that you are or will be affected by a miscarriage. Still if miscarriage happens, there is nothing else left for you to do.
Another reason of spotting may be an ectopic pregnancy. This means that the fertilized egg gets implanted outside the uterus. In the majority of the cases this happens in one of the fallopian tubes.
