Expectant dads out there; we hear you. Life is about to change dramatically not only for the mother, you are also entering the land of the sleep deprived, you life is also about to alter irreversibly, so here are some tips that may help you cope:
- Read a book (or several) about pregnancy and childbirth. It will give you a lot of insight and consequently let you empathize with the enormity of what a pregnant woman goes through. This will help you mentally prepare for the elation, the extra work, the tiredness that will be your lot when the baby arrives.
- Help out the mother to be by helping out more around the house and treat both of you to little things like a special dinner out or some mutual massage sessions with fragrant oil. Take time out for just talking, sharing thoughts, apprehensions and suggestions with each other.
- Taking a childbirth class will equip you for the childbirth to come. You will find yourself more involved; more informed about a lot of things and also better able to cope with the situations that you are going to find yourself in.
