38 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms

So your waiting game starts. Use this additional time to take rest, relax, and naps.

Bloody show

When there is a vaginal discharge it can be tinged with brownish or pinkish color because the blood vessels present in the cervix rupture during effacement and dilation. This is called as bloody show. This could be a sign of labor.

Itchy belly

Itchy skin is a common symptom during the second and third trimester of pregnancy. As it tightens and stretches from the growing belly, your skin might feel itchy and dry.

If you are experiencing severe itching which spreads to your legs and arms, it can be PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques) at the time of pregnancy. To soothe this itchy belly, apply vitamin E oil. Indeed you may need to stock up an additional vitamin E capsules bottle.

Braxton Hicks contractions

Now these contractions may be more intense. This is a great time for practicing your visualization techniques and breathing.

Swollen feet and ankles

If swollen feet and ankles are getting you down, it is the correct time for some kind of support that is hose. Be sure that you wear the tops which are not tight if you prefer for thigh-high or knee-high hose. Put on them in morning before your daily swelling begins.

Difficulty in sleeping

Your brain is running much faster that you cannot sleep. Do not switch on your system to search for the delivery and labor information. Instead of that you can read a magazine or a book for some time. This will help you to sleep faster.

Increase in the vaginal discharge

You might be having more vaginal discharge in this stage, and you might even lose the mucous plug, which is a clear thick lump of mucus that has been corking the cervix in the whole pregnancy, as the cervix dilates. This means that your labor may come soon, it could be for days, or even weeks away.

Diarrhea

Passing the bowel movements is the nature’s way to prepare sufficient room for the baby to emerge. So if you are experiencing diarrhea during this week, it indicates that the labor is going to occur soon. Drink plenty of water and consume the food lightly. Skip the foods that contain fat or anything which contains rich fiber.
