You will need to know when you are ovulating. This small window is the only time that you will be able to conceive a baby.
For those with regular cycles, this is easy to work out. There are ovulation calculators online that will help you and you can also take your basal temperature – this will drop just before ovulation.
However, if you have an irregular cycle or you have just come off the contraceptive pill, you will struggle to work out your most fertile dates at first.
An ovulation kit will aid with this, which is available from most drug stores; usually next to the pregnancy testing kits. It is worth investing in one of these to increase the chance of pregnancy happening quicker.

While you will be having sex to create a baby, you will also need to have some fun at it. This is for a variety of reasons, including the fact that you need to feel at ease. Having sex for the sake of having a baby will lead to a lot of pressure and stress, which will lead to problems with fertility. By having fun, you will also be having sex just for the sake of it.
Enjoying your time will also help the sperm get to where it needs to be. When a woman orgasms, the muscles pulsate. This will help to pull the sperm upwards, which means there are more chances that it will reach the egg when it needs to.
Stop stressing about not being pregnant
Remember that it can take a year to get pregnant – for some couples it can take up to two years. Because of this, it is worth not stressing too much about why you are not yet pregnant. This only puts your body under more pressure and will lead to not being able to support an embryo.
To increase the chances of pregnancy, you need to relax. Consider a warm bath when you feel tense or exercising to take your mind off things. When it does come to your “time of the month” do not think about it too much but be prepared either way.
