Understanding Late Ovulation

In case you would like to get pregnant most probably you are tracking your body temperature and your menstrual cycles. This way you know when you ovulate and also if you have late ovulation. This is important because women are more fertile when they are ovulating, so the chances of getting pregnant are a lot higher.

Irregularities and ovulating late

If you keep track, you may find that sometimes there are some irregularities. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get pregnant, but there are some other problems that you have to face. In this case, the best thing you could do is to find out when you have your most fertile days.

Late OvulationIn order to find out whether you are ovulating late, there are two methods you could use. You can try them individually, but it is best to use them simultaneously.

You will need a new calendar. You have to write your statistics on the calendar and you can find calendars of this kind on the internet as well.

Basal temperature

To observe whether you have late ovulation you need to measure your body basal temperature. Write this number on the calendar. In case you are ovulating, this temperature rises 0.5-1 degree above the normal level. After a few months you can find a pattern in your ovulation and you will be able to predict it.

Ovulation kits

At the same time, in order to find whether you are ovulating late you could be using an ovulation kit. Such kits use your urine and tell whether you are ovulating. This should be done daily as well and write the results on the calendar. In case you use both methods, you can make accurate predictions.

Menstrual cycles

You also need to know about the menstrual cycle to find late ovulation. The menstrual cycle starts on the first day of the period and ends a day before the next period starts. Usually this time period is of 28 days, but it could differ from one woman to the other. Usually ovulation happens in the middle.

You aren’t ovulating late even if it happens on the 15th day of the menstrual cycle. Nonetheless if it happens after the 20th day, it is considered to be late. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get pregnant, but it could be more difficult.

Don’t forget, regarding late ovulation, that the lining of the uterus sheds and is replaced during each cycle, and if your ovulation happens late, the lining could be a bit old. It could be more difficult for the egg to attach to the lining, but if this happens, you will have a healthy baby without any complications.

In case you are ovulating late you should also think about the fact that the eggs that do reach the uterus aren’t as fertile as they are supposed to be. All in all you can see that your job of getting pregnant is more difficult than in case of other women, however it isn’t impossible.

Alarm

When observing late ovulation you may also be thinking about the fact that you could be facing some kind of health problems. If this is an ongoing situation for months after you started tracking, it may be time to talk to your doctor. In this case, you should see an obstetrician who is a specialist in pregnancy.

If you are ovulating late, you should see a specialist of this kind and show him or her the calendar that you have created. In majority of the cases, the doctors run different kinds of tests based on your late ovulation.
