Top 6 Homemade Pregnancy Tests

If you thought that visiting the doctor or buying a pregnancy test kit from the chemist were the only ways to check if you were pregnant, then you are mistaken. For thousands of years now, women have been trying to find natural ways to check pregnancy and this has resulted in some amazing, sure-shot and useful homemade pregnancy tests.

To our ancestors, over-the-counter pregnancy tests were not available and they devised these homemade methods which are still used widely. The following is a list of the 6 best and most effective homemade pregnancy tests that you can try.

1. Sugar Pregnancy Test

To do this test, you need to put a few spoonfuls of sugar in a bowl and add urine to it (directly urinate in the bowl). If the sugar does not form clumps, then it is a sign that you are pregnant.  But on the other hand, if the sugar gets dissolved when urine is put on it, then you are not pregnant. This test is best done when performed in the morning time after waking up since urine is more concentrated at this time.

2. Bleach Pregnancy Test

Another superb homemade pregnancy test that you can do is the bleach pregnancy test. This test involves putting a little bleach in a container and then adding urine to it. If the mixture fizzes and foams, then there are high chances of you being pregnant. If there is no reaction, then you may not be pregnant.  The only problem with this test is that there is no specific amount of bleach and urine to be used.

3. Dandelion Pregnancy Test

To do this test, you need to place a few dandelion leaves in a plastic container and pour in your urine onto them, until they are completely soaked.  If after 10 minutes, red blisters have formed on the leaves, then it may be a sign of pregnancy.  But if blisters do not form, then you may not be pregnant. Make sure you use early morning urine.

4. Toothpaste Pregnancy Test

You will need to find plain white toothpaste and then add urine to it. If the toothpaste turns light blue in color or forms foam or fizz, then this could be an indication of pregnancy but if this doesn’t happen, then you may not be pregnant.

5. Vinegar Pregnancy Test

Take a cup of white vinegar and add your morning urine to it.  If the color changes, then this could be an indication of pregnancy but if it doesn’t change, then that may mean that you are not. Again, the amount of urine to be used is not specific.

6. Pine Sol Pregnancy Test

Pine sol is basically a household cleaning product that many people make at home as well. You need to take a little bit of this cleaning agent and then add your urine to it. A change in color of pine sol may indicate pregnancy but for this, it is better to use commercial pine sol and not the home made one.
