Although there are a lot of things that could scare you off from thinking about pregnancy after 40, you should know that there are a lot of success stories as well. Don’t forget that there are 50 and 60 year old women as well who are able to bring a healthy child into the world.

According to the doctors regarding being pregnant after 40, in case the woman in question is in good physical shape and has no health problems, she could have a pregnancy just as pleasant as a 30 year old would. Nonetheless we also have to take into consideration that there are also women with hypertension, diabetes or that are overweight.

Complications

You should be thinking about complications when considering pregnancy after 40. The risks of suffering from complications increase with age. According to a study regarding pregnant women over 50 found that 26% of the women suffered from preeclampsia and 13% of the women had gestational diabetes.

Clinics

You may know, regarding being pregnant after 40, that in some cases the clinics have an age limit, and they simply don’t handle women above that limit. While in some case we are talking about the age of 55, but you might find it difficult to find treatments in case you are 44 too.
