Tinsel town is raining babies! The year 2012-2013 has brought baby boom for our celebrities.

The magic number is 47 and we are still counting. The number of A-listers turning mommies and daddies this year is set to break all previous records.

The baby-boomer trend this year was kick-started by none other than the famous celebrity couple Beyonce and Jay-Z when their daughter Blue Ivy Carter was born on January 7, 2012. It was soon followed by Hillary Duff who gave birth to little Luca Cruz. Next in line were January Jones, Selma Blair, Jennifer Garner, Natalie Portman, Kristin Davis and Jessica Simpson, to name a few.

The more recent leading ladies to announce their new mommy status are Reese Witherspoon, Megan Fox, Camila Alves, Anna Paquin, Drew Barrymore and Tamera Mowry.

A couple of the stars even had twins (read double trouble) coming into their lives. Anna Paquin is one among them. Singer Adele joined some of the other first time moms such as Megan Fox, Drew Barrymore and Snooki.

There has also been a class of celebrities who became mothers in a special way. While Charlize Theron adopted her first child Jackson, there is Elizabeth Banks who announced the birth of her second child through surrogacy. These special mothers had more to rejoice as became unconventional mothers.

Some of the stars who are in the last leg of pregnancy and expecting the arrival of their bundle of joy very soon are: Shakira, Claire Danes, Lara Stone, Kristen Bell, Beverly Mitchell and Gisele Bundchen.

So here is a warm welcome to all the celeb-babies who will enter the New Year with a big bling!
