In case of this problem the blood filled with oxygen cannot reach the organs while the blood with no oxygen goes back to the body, without being refreshed.  It is possible that the pulmonary artery and the aorta of the baby aren’t attached the way they should be.

Atrial septal defect

This is another one of the kinds of congenital heart defects in newborn. Actually, this is a common problem of the septum which divides the heart into two parts. As a result of this condition, the wall that should separate the two parts has a hole on it and so the blood will get mixed.

Bicuspid

Patent ductus

This one of the types of congenital heart defects newborns that usually appears among the premature babies. In this case the blood vessel that connects the pulmonary artery and the aorta can’t close on its own. As a result of this, the passageway is left open.

Fallot’s tetralogy

The people thinking about the newborns’ kinds of congenital heart defects should know that this is the most common cause of a blue baby. It appears in about 10% of the cases. The condition involves four different kinds of malformations: misplaced aorta, septal defect, pulmonary stenosis and a thick right ventricle.

There are some other types of congenital heart defects newborns as well, such as the aorta’s coarctation, pulmonary stenosis, aortic stenosis and so on. The sad truth is that there are a lot of heart problems that the little one could have and some of them may be the result of you not taking good care of yourself while being pregnant.
