Tums During Pregnancy

Heartburn is a really common problem during pregnancy. Since pregnant women should avoid taking medication, it is better to think about Tums during pregnancy.

This helps you with your problem and it is a safe remedy to use during pregnancy. The reason for which you should consider taking Tums is that it comes with several active agents that can help make heartburn better.

Besides these the medication also contains calcium carbonate. As you can see it works like magic during pregnancy because it is efficient but it doesn’t represent any risks for the baby.

Is this the solution?

In case you take Tums while being pregnant but the pain doesn’t go away, it may be time to see your doctor. He or she will examine you and will run some tests to see why the medication isn’t working as it is supposed to.

These tests will make sure that you don’t have some other kind of condition that could turn out to be dangerous for the baby. Tums comes in different forms, such as capsules, tablets, chewable tables and syrup that need to be taken orally.

You can also find it with different flavors, such as fruits like orange and berries or peppermint.

Side effects

Although it may sound safe to take Tums when being pregnant, you should also think about its side effects. It is normal to experience dryness of mouth, upset stomach, vomiting, belching, frequent urination, and stomach pain.

If you experience these side effects for longer periods of time you should talk to your health care provider about them. All in all we can say that it is alright to take Tums but you shouldn’t abuse this medicine.

Make sure that you take it only when you feel like you cannot handle the discomfort anymore because after all, it is medication.
