Diet for 24 Weeks Pregnant

Now you are in the 24th week of your pregnancy. As you are getting closer to the delivery date, you should be very careful about your diet.

Diet also plays a very important role in the pregnancy for delivering a healthy baby. There is a healthy diet for 24 weeks pregnant.

You can quiet constipation by consuming foods with rich fiber like:

  • Cracked wheat (cut or crushed raw kernels of wheat).
  • Oats.
  • Whole wheat.
  • Fresh vegetables and fruits.
  • Whole grain bread.
  • Dried nuts and fruits.

It is very essential to drink plenty of water along with fiber rich diet. This fiber which is present in the food absorbs water. If you do not have sufficient water, it may worsen the constipation. Some women ease the constipation by using some natural remedies like eating psyllium seeds and figs.

Vitamin A

  • Vitamin A is also important at the time of pregnancy for you and your baby. It is required for cell growth, production of Red Blood Cells, night vision and healthy skin.
  • Vitamin A generally exists in 2 forms in our food, beta carotene and retinol. Both the forms are good for your growing baby’s and your health.
  • Retinol will be present in milk, egg yolk, margarine and butter, which are very good to eat at the time of pregnancy. It is better to avoid eating liver products or liver at the time of pregnancy as they contain very high doses of retinol.
  • Beta carotene is present in carrots, papaya (prefer ripe ones), green vegetables, particularly spinach and broccoli, sweet potatoes, oranges.

Rich calcium

Try to take a rich calcium diet which is good for your baby and your bones. Calcium is generally found in the broccoli and dairy products.

Cholesterol levels

Cholesterol is very important for maintaining your placenta healthy. Some professionals say that the cholesterol in low levels may result in the premature labor. This may result in the baby’s birth with low weight. There is nothing to worry about a slight increase in the cholesterol level. Generally the cholesterol level slightly increases at this stage as it is required in various hormone production. Unless your physician suggests, don’t try to alter cholesterol levels at the time of pregnancy by consuming foods which claim to decrease it or by medication.

  • Carrot and beetroot juice
  • Watermelon juice
  • Apricot and fig shake
  • Curd rice
  • Stuffed millet rotis
  • Steamed sprout salad
  • Soya granule tikki
