What to Expect from Early Pregnancy Spotting

Although it may seem to be alarming, you should know that seeing early pregnancy spotting is quite common. Even more, about one third of all pregnant women see this symptom. It is true that vaginal bleeding during the early stages could indicate a threatened abortion but the majority of women will have healthy babies.

Information about spotting during early pregnancy

The term threatened abortion refers to the possibility for the bleeding to mark a future miscarriage. It is more likely that you will have an actual miscarriage if the blood is bright red and the bleeding is heavier than the regular periods. The symptoms in this case should also include cramping.

It is possible for the miscarriage to last for several days. Nonetheless if you experience spotting in your early pregnancy most probably you won’t have any problems and you will have a healthy baby. If you see the bleeding during the first 2-3 months of pregnancy and you also have cramping, you should exclude an ectopic pregnancy.

If you are asking is spotting normal during early pregnancy you should know that there are some situations when the spotting isn’t normal. An ectopic pregnancy means that the fertilized egg gets implanted outside the uterus. This should be seen on a sonogram.

If the doctor saw the pregnancy inside your uterus, even though you experience early pregnancy bleeding, for sure you don’t have an ectopic pregnancy. Sometimes women are worried that they had a miscarriage when they see blood. This is easy to confirm with the help of tests.

Hormones

Even if you see bleeding during early pregnancy, if after your first missed period your hCG levels are normally rising, most probably you have a healthy pregnancy. In order to make sure that the hormone levels are normal, you just have to use an hCG tool.

Heartbeat

To make sure that there is nothing wrong even if you see early pregnancy spotting, you could ask your doctor to check the heartbeats of the little one. This can be seen after the 7th week of pregnancy. However there is no guarantee that you won’t have a miscarriage in the future.

Even if you hear the heartbeats of the baby, if you experience bleeding when being in the early pregnancy, it is possible that a few days after the appointment you will experience the miscarriage. After learning about the heartbeats of the little one you should ask your doctor to perform a sonogram.

Miscarriage

A miscarriage could be the cause of the bleeding during the early pregnancy stages. The truth is that the causes aren’t well understood. In the majority of the cases the miscarriage takes place because of the baby’s chromosomal abnormalities. It is also possible to have an abnormal implantation. No matter what the case is, there is no treatment.

Now you don’t have to ask is spotting normal during early pregnancy anymore. Sometimes spotting doesn’t mean anything, but it could indicate something more serious. This is why you should always find the source of the bleeding.
