Pregnancy and the Symptoms of a Bladder Infection

There are a lot of changes that go on in the body of pregnant women and among the many symptoms they may experience the symptoms of a bladder infection.

The uterus grows larger and it eventually puts pressure on the bladder. In case the bladder can’t empty completely, the woman can get an infection.

Pain

Keep in mind that you should never experience pain when you urinate. If you experience any pain you should let your doctor know immediately. It is also possible to experience some pain or pressure in the lower abdomen or in your lower back.

Pressure and frequency

The truth about this one of the signs of a bladder infection is that it is normal for pregnant women to go often to the toilet. However if you think that you are going to the bathroom way too often it might mean that you have a urinary tract infection.

Bloody urine

Blood is never good during pregnancy. Having bloody urine can be one of the symptoms of a bladder infection. In case you notice blood in the urine it might mean that you have a kidney infection or a urinary tract infection. The color of the urine could be orange, pink or dark yellow.

Odor and color

In case you notice the bladder infections signs it is possible that your urine will have a darker color or a stronger odor. Both of these signs should make you see your doctor about this problem. If you have no pain, this could be the first sign telling you that there is something wrong.

Kidney infection

If the symptoms of a bladder infection aren’t addressed, it is possible that the infection will travel to the kidneys as well. This usually happens during the second half of the pregnancy. If you have a kidney infection, you might experience flank pain, fever, vomiting, nausea, and some other UTI symptoms.

Asymptomatic bacteriuria

This means that the warning signs of bladder infection are nonexistent, but there is an infection. This is why the doctors have to check your urine, to make sure that you don’t have an infection that doesn’t show any symptoms.

There is a lot to know about the symptoms of a bladder infection. Make sure that you keep an eye out for the possible problems and if you see something wrong, make sure you talk to your doctor immediately.
