More About the First Trimester of Pregnancy

The first trimester of pregnancy is always filled with surprises. The transformations in the body of women are invisible, but they are major. The hormones make your body nourish the baby even before you know that you are pregnant. If you know what to expect, the changes will be easier to handle.

Nausea during the pregnancy’s first trimester

A lot of women are affected by morning sickness and you should know that the symptoms could appear at any moment of the day. These could start within three weeks of conception. It looks like nausea is caused by the elevated levels of progesterone and estrogen, which make the stomach work slower.

In the same time during the first trimester of pregnant women they have a heightened sense of smell and so some of the smells could also make them experience nausea. In order to make the symptoms better you should consider eating more frequent and smaller meals.

Make sure that you have foods that are easy to digest and that are low in fats in your diet during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is important to stay hydrated and it is usually helpful to drink some ginger ale. In some cases the motion sickness bands can also be helpful. Acupuncture and hypnosis could help as well.

Tender and swollen breasts during the pregnant women’s first trimester

The pregnancy hormones start appearing right after conception. These make the breasts tender and swollen in a short period of time. They could also feel heavier and fuller. It may be useful to wear a sports bra or a bra that offers more support.

Frequent urination

A lot of women find themselves urinating more often during the first trimester of pregnancy, especially at night. There is more pressure on the bladder because of the enlarged uterus. This is why urine could leak when laughing, sneezing or coughing. In order not to have a UTI, you should urinate when you feel the urge.

If you want to make sure that you will have enough rest during the expectant mother’s first trimester, you could try drinking less water in the evening so that you wouldn’t have to wake up during the night. If leaking urine worries you, all you have to do is to use panty liners.

Fatigue

This is one of the most common symptoms of the first trimester of pregnancy. This is because the high levels of progesterone make you sleepy. Also the low blood pressure, low blood sugar level and the higher blood production use up all your energy.

In order to make this symptom of the first trimester of expectant women better, you should have as much rest as you can. It is important to have protein and iron in your diet. Some physical activity could fill you up with energy as well, but make sure that you don’t overdo it.

Now you know what to expect from the first trimester of pregnancy. Naturally there are some other changes too that you have to know about.
