34 Weeks Pregnant Cramps

Entering into this week is a milestone for a pregnant woman as there are only few weeks to go to the due date from now. Now your baby starts to attain head down position and with abundant visible organs when seen through a CT scan.

There are various symptoms that a pregnant woman has to experience in this week. But of all, the worst symptom is the 34 weeks pregnant cramps.

In most of the cases, pregnant women are not sure whether these cramps are preterm labor sign or just a usual symptom experienced by all the women at the time of pregnancy.

Cramps

Cramps that embrace your trunk include groin and lower back, and become more frequent and stronger as the time progresses. Backache uneasiness is a common symptom during the 34th week of pregnancy.

Your uterus’ heavy weight, and also the hormonal changes which relax the muscles and ligaments in your body, can result in the additional pressure on the back. Leg cramps is also a common symptom in this stage, where the fatigue, pregnancy weight and swelling are present at their peak. If you experience a spasm, try to stand on a cold surface.

Cramps intensity and frequency

The fact is that, most women in this week of pregnancy have the cramps though the cramps intensity differs from one woman to another woman. If the intensity of these cramps is increasing over a time period, it is absolutely not a positive signal.

The other thing is the cramps frequency that occurs in the legs and abdomen. When a pregnant woman experiences the cramps for more than 6 to 8 times in one hour, then it is better to go to the hospital for the checkup at the earliest.

Here how to distinguish between a normal cramp and preterm labor cramp is specified. Do not be worried and instead be aware of these differences.

  • If these cramps are beginning from the back and reaching to the abdomen and vice versa, then it could be sign of preterm labor.
  • If these cramps are experienced in the legs particularly the calf muscles then you should try to put your feet in the cold water. If the pain is not reduced then it could be a sign of preterm labor.
  • If the cramps are associated with other kind of symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, or vaginal discharge, then without any doubt you should not ignore it as a normal symptom, you should immediately go to the hospital.

So getting awareness of these cramps symptoms as specified above can let the pregnant woman and the baby be safe until the delivery.
