Your baby is called as fetus when you are 11 week pregnant. Most of the baby’s development is completed in this week.

At the beginning of 11 week pregnant, the baby will be an inch or so and the baby grows up to two inches by the end of this week and weighs about 0.3-0.4 ounces.

In this week, your baby grows rapidly. The baby’s head is half of the body size and this will change as the baby grows.

The baby’s organs will start functioning in this week and your baby now will have skeleton, blood circulation, and nerves.

The iris of your baby will begin to develop, but the eyelids will remain shut during this week.

When you are 11 weeks pregnant, the baby’s fingernails start to appear and the feet are fully formed and shaped. Your baby will start to get tooth buds, toenails, fingernails, and hair follicles in this week.

The blood circulation starts to circulate between the uterus and baby and placenta will begin to function by this week or may be in the next week (12 week).

The significant part of the baby’s development will be completed during this week and the remaining part of the baby’s development is quick from this week. The chances of miscarriage are considerably less from this week.

In the beginning of this week, the baby’s genitalia will be developing although you cannot say whether your baby is a girl or a boy.

When you are 11 week pregnant, the symptoms you may experience would be breast tenderness, morning sickness, fatigue, constipation, occasional headaches, heartburn, etc.

By this week, your uterus will be of grapefruit size. Your appetite improves as your nausea, morning sickness, etc become less, and from this week for many women, the morning sickness and nausea starts to subside.

Weight gain is a big concern for many pregnant women. Usually, doctors say that the pregnant women should gain in the first trimester of one to two pounds a month, but some women will lose weight.

You don’t worry if you have this type of problem, as this is one of the common problems for pregnant women, but you are perfectly fine. This happens only when you are ill or having morning sickness, nausea, heartburn, etc.

Thus, it is important for you and your baby to have healthy pregnancy diet. Take your prenatal vitamins as per directions of your health care professional. You should take 350-600 calories extra per day when you are pregnant.

Remember that good nutrition is important for you and your baby. Thus, it is important for you to take plenty of protein and lots of fruits and vegetables. Also, take rest as much as possible.

On the other hand, rapid weight gain causes you to have stretch marks on your abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks, etc. that will not go completely. So, avoid excessive weight gain during pregnancy.

In 11 week pregnant, if you have any vaginal discharge, it is good to consult your doctor.
