1st Week in a pregnant woman is extremely mystifying and exciting time.
You can start calculating your pregnancy week-by-week as soon as you decide to conceive.
In the first week of pregnancy, you can start counting from your last menstrual period.
Most of the women do not know about the exact day when they have conceived. During the first week of your pregnancy, you may not even be certain that you are pregnant.
Most of the woman can aware of the day their period started. So, you can easily know about your baby’s due date. It will be a bit confusing for everybody to remember to start counting from the day your period starts. But in reality, you will not become pregnant 2 weeks after the day your period starts.
For example, if your doctor says you are 12 weeks pregnant, then the period of conception is approximately 10 weeks ago. Week 1 is mostly devoted to the method of ovulation and fertilization.
What are the physical changes that occur during 1st week pregnancy?
If you are 1 week pregnant, your body will develop estrogen and progesterone in varying quantities to prepare the body for ovulation, when your ovaries release an egg.
There are some signs and symptoms that 1 week pregnant women can experience:
The most common symptoms that you can experience during ovulation will be mild cramping. You can experience this on one or both sides of your body. But it is very rare to feel ovarian discomfort during the process of ovulation.
How to determine the fertile period in a woman?
You can realize a large amount of clear discharge throughout your fertile days. If your discharge is most abundant, slippery, stretchy and clear, then you are at the peak time of fertilization. During this time, you have the greatest chance for conceiving. Often the cervical mucus during your fertile peak is stretchy. Usually, you can stretch it for 1 inch or more [Fertility charting techniques].
Another way to know about your fertile days is by using basal temperature monitoring. It is an effective and natural way to know about your fertile days. In the first 2 weeks of your menstrual cycle, your body temperature should be less than the normal temperature.
Typically your body temperature falls between 97.0 and 97.5 degrees Fahrenheit. However, during ovulation, your body temperature rises due to the increased levels of progesterone. Body temperature rises between .4 and .6 degrees during ovulation.
What are the changes that occur in fetus during 1st week pregnancy?
In week 1, you have to think about to start a family. When you plan to conceive, get the time to make your body for maternity. Begin to plan earlier, so that you and your baby will not be exposed to dangerous things during the pregnancy.
From the 1st week, start to take vitamin supplements or prenatal vitamins. Quit smoking, alcohol consumption and taking over-the-counter medications. Begin with good habits before planning for conception, so that you can give your baby a best possible start.
At the end of week one, in a 1 week pregnant woman, the menstrual period stops and once again the uterine lining starts to build and thickens to receive the egg. Most of the eggs are evolving and your ovary will release the egg that is ready for fertilization.
As egg release does not take place in week 1 mostly, there will be no fetal development during the 1st week. Your fetus starts to build from 3rd week onwards.

It is very dificult to determine 1st week of pregnancy. Ussually women understand they are pregnant in 3rd-4th week of pregnancy. However it is better to stop smoking and drinking alcohol drinks as early as planning to conceive, and take some time to clean organism. Forthcoming fathers also should take it seriuosly and stop harmful activities for some time.
